Hi everyone! I know this time is very scary and anxiety-provoking for people and thus we need to support our mental health as much as our physical health. I want to provide an easy space to access to help with current updates for my practice:

Appointments in person vs. telemedicine:

5/28/20 – Appointments are currently being held by telemedicine-only.

The decision is based off of current recommendations and I am confident that once it is deemed safe to return to the office, we will do so. My current plan is to return to the office myself when it is safe to do so shortly after the start of Phase 2 in Seattle while continuing to offer telemedicine-only sessions for the foreseeable future. I will continue to update this as able.

If telemedicine is new for you, many clients have found it very beneficial for continued care and fairly simple to adjust to. It has helped many continue treatment in cases of sickness, barriers to traveling to the office, childcare challenges, etc. It is a very handy backup and thank goodness it is available to help us during this time! You can review this awesome video the Mindful Therapy Group operations team set-up to show you how to do it.
As always if you do need to cancel for any reason, please let me know as soon as possible so we can make scheduling adjustments.

Cancellation Policy Reminder: Now that we’ve adjusted to the transition to telemedicine sessions, it is a good time to remind everyone of my cancellation policy, which is in place:

  • $90 cancellation fee for appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice
  • Fee is waived if appointment is made up within 5 business days
  • Arrival more than 15 minutes after appointment start time is considered a late cancellation.
  • Recurring appointments – Appointments missed two weeks in a row with no contact will be cancelled and the spot will be open for another client. This can be avoided by speaking with me about the situation leading to cancellation.

If for whatever reason you are unable to access telemedicine, please remember I offer brief check-in calls and want to stay in touch with you about how you are doing. Of course, this option isn’t a replacement for therapy, so we discuss options for helping you maintain the care you need.

Here is the information from Mindful Therapy Group, as we coordinate together on this decision:

Insurance Coverage for Telemedicine:

Mindful Therapy Group has done a really awesome job of obtaining information and advocating for clients. We anticipate that most if not all insurance companies will begin making exceptions under the current circumstances.

If your insurance states they will only cover services if it is through a company like Teladoc, unfortunately I am not a member of those companies at this time and cannot bill through them.

I am considering ways to continue service delivery as effectively as possible, including advocating at the state level for telehealth parity so we can get telemedicine covered the same as in-person services, especially during this time. If your insurance prevents you from accessing services as you normally would receive them, let me know and we will discuss the situation.

Stress Management/Resources:

I will soon be working on a blog entry to help with stress management and resources during this time, and will link that here when it is ready.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time. We will get through this together!
